Earthquake strikes Mashel, Pakistan 25th September 2013

Major earthquake kills at least 350 and leaves thousands injured and homeless in Mashel, Baluchistan, a remote region of Pakistan

According to The United States Geological Survey (USGS). the earthquake took place on 24 September 2013 at 11:29:48 UTC at 27.000°N 65.514°E. The depth of the earthquake was reported to be 15 kilometres (9.3 mi).

• A powerful earthquake of 7.7 magnitude earthquake which centered in Baluchistan province's remote Awaran district flattened entire villages hitting the South West region of Pakistan. The natural disaster has killed more than 350 people, destroyed 21,000 homes and left 300,000 helpless victims in a state of panic and in dire need of shelter, blankets, medical aid and food.
• A state of emergency has been declared in the heavily hit districts of Awaran, Kech and Panchgur where the death toll is expected to rise further.
• The teams of Al Mustafa are helping people on the ground providing first aid and helping people to take out from rubble.

Ramadan TV SKY 192 Appeal 25/07/13

Hifz-e-Quran:

The Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) said, 'The best among you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it to others (Bukhari) £15 a month or just 50p a day can help a poor student memorize the Qur'an. This is one to one sponsorship where you are updated on a regular basis about the child's progress.

Ramadan 2013 Target:

Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust wants to raise funds to help sponsor 30 Hafiz-e-Quran this Ramadan.

£540 for full sponsorship of a child to memorize the whole Quran for three years.

Cleft Surgery:

Children with cleft lip and palate are likely to face bullying or teasing. Sufferers with cleft lip or palate are less likely than non-affected peers to marry. In Uganda babies with cleft are called 'Ajok' which means sadly means 'cursed by God' In many parts of the world babies with cleft are killed or abandoned after birth.

Every year more than 170,000 children are born globally with clefts.

Abdul's Story:

Abdul Basit was borne with Cleft palates, unlike normal children he was unable to eat and smile. He had cleft surgery at our hospital and now looks like a normal baby.

With generous support from donors like yourself we are able to carry out this free surgery which costs just £150 to help children like Abdul Basit smile.

It cost just £150 to give Abdul his smile back.

Rohingya Muslim Food Pack

Over 100,000 Rohingya from Burma are displaced, thousands of their Mosques and homes have been burnt, hundreds killed, women dishonored and children killed

The Burmese Rohingya Muslim's are 15 recognized as one of the world's most persecuted minorities, stateless and living in constant fear. Living in make-shift camps on the border between Burma and Bangladesh, they are in desperate need of food, shelter and medical aid.

The AMWT team visited Burma to supervise the delivery of aid first hand and and met many Muslim refugees living in no-mans land. As was clearly evident, our children and elderly were suffering the most. Please help them.

Clean Water:

People are suffering and lives are lost every minute and every day needlessly because of a lack of safe water and sanitation.

With your support we help local communities have easy access to clean water to end this global crisis and transform lives. According to the UNOCHA only 30% of the population in Somalia has access to safe drinking water sources. Our water-well projects are helping people to access clean water at their door step.

Omer is 43 years old from Somalia and father of 5 children and living in Belet-Alkarim village where we have installed a well.

"The main problem in the area is lack of clean water. People have to travel very far and our children have to help us to collect water. The whole village and especially children suffer from time to time from various diseases mainly, typhoid, diarrhoea, bilharzias and malaria which are caused by unclean water. I am happy now we have a well near our house."

Over 6000 people are benefiting from this well.

Zain, his cousins and friends having fun

Zain is from Shikarpur,in Sindh, Pakistan, where underground drinking water has been contaminated since the disastrous 2011 floods. We have installed hundreds of hand pumps in flood affected areas to help children like Zain to have access to clean water at their door step.

ROHINGYA MUSLIMS BURMA APPEAL:

The Rohingya’s are a minority Muslim population in Burma. Since 1978 they have suffered from intense religious persecution including physical violence, rape and torture, land confiscation, house demolition and forced labour. Recently, tension in Burma has escalated dramatically and entire villages are being destroyed, leaving an estimated 100,000 people displaced without food, medical supplies or safety. These destitute people are living in very dire conditions in over 60 camps in the Rakhine State.

Conflict between the Rohingya and the ethnic Arakan majority has become progressively worse, so much so that an official state of emergency was declared in this region by the Burmese government in early June. It has been reported that women and children are being abducted from predominantly Muslim villages.

Al Mustafa Welfare Trust is working to reach the Rohingya community with the aid of local organizations on the ground and in bordering countries those are facilitating humanitarian projects.

The recent update as of July 2013 is revealing shocking violations of the Geneva Convention. Pregnant women have been murdered, women and young girls are being constantly raped and abused. In some cases women have been set ablaze and died. These people have been displaced from their homes and brutally being murdered. We urge all of the Muslim Ummah to stand united with the Rohingya Muslims and help support them financially as well as contacting your local MP and show outrage and for the British Government to show compassion and humanity and intervene in this genocide.

Food Aid May 2013 Update

Al Mustafa Welfare Trust (AMWT) donated 18 maund (720 Kg) wheat bags to four disabled children of Khurshid and an elderly individual who lived in Lahore. This food aid was donated on May 27th 2013 under our food support programme. The poor family would use this wheat for domestic purposes. Al Mustafa is supporting the disabled children since 2012 and we are providing medical treatment, monthly financial help and food to them. With our regular support two of the young disabled brothers Sadiq and Salim are improving gradually, while Muhammad Sadiq is also running a vending shop from his home.

We are on "Living the Life" Islam Channel

We are going to be on Islam Channel "Living the life" show today from 7pm to 8pm with hosts Rahim Jung and Hasanaah Amejee and special guest Colin Nell (Football Freestyler) as well as Iklaq Hussain of Al Mustafa Welfare Trust. On the show we are discussing the "Gift of Vision" fundraising event taking place at Porchester Hall, Bayswater on 7th June 2013 to raise funds for helping blind people as well as how we can help restore eyesight of the poor and vulnerable.

We are also discussing Sadaf's story and how we helped restore her eyesight after 10 years suffering from partial blindness.

Free Eye Camp on 4th May 2013

We are delighted to inform our donors and supporters that the President of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, will be inaugurating our Free Eye Camp on 4th May 2013, at Garala village in Tararkhal, Kashmir. This is a two day camp where free medicines, eye screening, cataract surgeries and free eyesight glasses will be available. Food and accommodation will also be provided for patients. Our medical team will consist of senior eye surgeons and eye technicians that will be arriving from Lahore with a mobile operation theatre setup specifically for our eye camp.

LAHORE (PR) – Al Mustafa Welfare Trust (AMWT) UK has organized a six-day free eye camp at Rural Health Center Chak 14 Sarwala of district Chiniot. During the camp more than 1,100 eye patients have been screened, out of which 200 cataract patients were operated. Chairman AMWT Abdul Razzaq Sajid said that a team of surgeons and eye technicians were moved from Lahore with an operation theater for camp arrangements. There were free arrangements for food, accommodation, medicines and lenses for all needy and deserving patients. AMWT is supporting the largest eye camps drive and operate some 5000 cataract surgeries in Pakistan during the current year, Sajid added.

Free Eye Camp Bangladesh

Bangladesh is one of the world's most densely populated countries. The majority of the country's eye care facilities are based in the big cities, but around 80% of the country's population live in rural areas, many of them living below the poverty line According to the World Health Organisation, 87% of the visually disabled live in underdeveloped countries.

Eye experts say 80% of blindness can be cured. However, 75% of the population of Bangladesh live in remote villages with few basic facilities. Besides being afraid of treatment and surgery, there is also the heavy cost of such help. A poor diet, especially one lacking in vitamin A, a lack of education and no antenatal preparation for pregnant women all contribute to the high percentage of blindness in the country.

Blindness in Bangladesh is also a social problem. Blind people are excluded from employment and are a burden to their family. Daughters cannot be married, something that's especially significant given that studies show women have a higher risk of being visually impaired. By having their vision restored, children in Bangladesh will be better equipped to survive in an impoverished country.

 Al Mustafa is helping blind people in Bangladesh working along with local partners to bring eye care within reach of the poorest communities. We have set up four free eye camps. The camps were of the great success and helped thousands to see again.

Recent achievements 

The first camp was organised on 15th December 2012 at Bishwanath Town, 825 people attended the camps and received various types of free service including eye sight check-ups, drops, medicines and eye glasses, whereas 38 people received free cataract surgery. The free eye camps were like mini hospital where all type of services were available for any eye conditions.

The second camp was held on 20th Jan 2013 at Fenchugonj Town, 180 people attended the camp and 18 people received free cataract surgery whereas other received various types of free treatment.

 The third camp was held on 22nd Jan 2013 at Sunamgonj Town, 380 people attended the camp and 52 people received free cataract surgeries. The forth camp was held on 7th February 2013 at Beinebazar, 265 people attended the camp and 27 received free cataract surgeries.

World Cancer Day Update

The following senior doctors attended the International Cancer Day at Al Mustafa Center in Karachi where a large number of people visited. It was an awareness campaign regarding cancer in Pakistan and was held on the 3rd February 2013 between 10.30am to 1.30pm.

Burma Update 2013

The chairman of Al Mustafa Abdul Razaq Sajid visited Burma in January 2013 to oversee the relief activities. The situation is still deteriorating and Muslims are living under awful and very adverse conditions.

The chairman visited many Muslims who were hiding from the authorities in various hidden places. The children and elderly people are at the higher risk and suffering the most.

Abdul Razzaq Sajid also visited the local hospital in Burma where Muslims are getting treatment and distributed food, cash and medicine supply from the hospital.


The chairman and other members of the delegation also arranged multiple meetings with local influential Muslim leaders to discuss the possible solution for current situation in Burma.

There was special conference arranged where other prestigious personalities of the Muslim community also spoke about the plight of current situation of Burmese Muslims.

The chairman of Al Mustafa called on the international human right organizations to highlight the plight of the Burmese Muslims situation.
