Who Are We

Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust (AMWT) is a registered non-government organisation (NGO) working on a non-profit basis whose aim is to alleviate poverty and provide medical and social development assistance to the poor and vulnerable around the world.

Our journey began in November 1983 on a small scale by a group of highly motivated intellectuals, social workers, lawyers, doctors, engineers and business executives, who had the passion for philanthropy. In the last 28 years since our formation, AMWT has provided medical care, education assistance, food aid, poverty relief, famine relief and community development in disaster areas, war torn countries and many rural and poverty stricken areas of the world, serving millions of needy and helpless people living in abject poverty and squalid conditions.

Al-Mustafa has a long list of services such as hospitals, welfare agencies, schools for the poor children, women’s centres, dowry funds for poor young daughters, minority benefits for the poor, funeral buses, ambulances, free pharmacies, ambulance services and many more supportive projects to help improve the lives of the poor and vulnerable.

During the devastating effects of the earthquakes in Pakistan, Kashmir, Haiti, and floods in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Kashmir, Al-Mustafa has provided enormous funds for tents, houses, road construction, community projects, mosques and rehabilitation and treatment of the injured.

Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust works in eight different sectors:
  • Health
  • Education
  • Orphan Support Programme
  • Elderly and Disabled
  • Water & Sanitation
  • Economic & Social Livelihoods
  • Clothing the Needy
  • Dawah and Islamic Guidance

Apart from providing short term emergency relief during disasters, Al-Mustafa supports and works for social and economic development by working closely with local communities. We do so without any discrimination and regardless of race, religion or gender.

Our History

Our journey began in November 1983 on a small scale by a group of highly motivated intellectuals, social workers, lawyers, doctors, engineers and business executives, who had the passion for philanthropy. In the last 28 years since our formation, AMWT has provided medical care, education assistance, food aid, poverty relief, famine relief and community development in disaster areas, war torn countries and many rural and poverty stricken areas of the world, serving millions of needy and helpless people living in abject poverty and squalid conditions.

AMWT started its operations in the UK in 2003. In a short space of time we have built our reputation and gained recognition by donors in the UK as a charity that is well structured, trust worthy and fully transparent.

Mission Statement

AMWT’s mission stands in accord with Article 25 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights that is:
"Everyone has a right to standard of living adequate for the health and well being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control."
Our mission is to serve humanity from the poorest parts of the world; from orphans, individuals, families to whole communities. Drawing strength from our global diversity, resources and over 28 years of experience, we can offer innovative solutions for self-sustainability as well as providing long and short-term relief aid, education and medical care to the poor and vulnerable. Acting as advocates with a global responsibility we can facilitate lasting change by:
  • Enabling communities to become self-sufficient by developing industries and solutions that will provide long term sustainability as well as income generation;
  • Providing economic opportunities;
  • Collecting donations for emergency relief aid to support those in need, following any wars or natural disasters as well as collecting funds on an ongoing basis to cover the eventuality of future wars or natural disasters;
  • Influencing policy decisions at all levels;
  • Addressing discrimination in all its forms.

Guided by the aspirations of local communities, we pursue our mission with both excellence and compassion because the people whom we serve deserve nothing less.

Our Vision

AMWT seeks out a world of hope, equality, tolerance and social justice, where poverty becomes history and people live in safety, dignity, economic prosperity and social cohesion. We want to be known everywhere for our unshakable, resounding and profound commitment to eradicating and overcoming poverty for the dignity of humanity.

Message from the Chairman

Dear Supporter – Assalam o Alaikum,

Welcome to the Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust UK website. 2010 has been a very eventful year and we would like to thank you for your invaluable support which enabled us to run various projects to help people in need. With your kind and generous aid we are planning to organise various new projects to help the poor and needy in third world countries, especially for the flood victims of Pakistan, who are still suffering from the devastating floods of 2010 that caused widespread destruction and loss of homes as well as hugh fatalities.
In 2010, we delivered food, clean drinking water, shelter and life changing development projects to remote communities of developing countries worldwide. Please continue to support us to go further next year Insha-Allah.

I would like to thank you all for your help and support, without which would make our work impossible. Our work for humanity is completely dependent on the donations that you provide and we are truly grateful. We assure you that we will remain committed to expand our work to help the poor and needy with your assistance.

Wassalam
Abdul Razzaq Sajid
